Cheryl and Lois were two of the first Community Ambassadors. They used their first mini-grant to knock down a wall in the small house that had just begun to become the Renick Community Center. Since that first mini-grant, Chery and Lois have incorporated a nonprofit organization (Renick Community Center, Inc.) that is of tremendous service to Northern Greenbrier County, providing a non-food pantry, community gatherings, and their most recent success: the development of a disability accessible, senior focused outdoor exercise facility and walking track on the Community Center grounds. Cheryl shares, “When we started at the Renick Community Center, there was no sense of community. That had been broken and recovering it was a huge challenge. Today, it is obvious that our community comes together, shares needs, overcomes challenges, and works together to provide opportunities to improve the overall health & well being of our local residents and beyond.”
